Can the Jays make it back-to-back against the Red Sox? Should you care? Maybe!
What you should care about, though, is that Devon Travis is playing in a minor league spring game as the DH today! Yeeeeessss!
So David Price avoided having to get Tommy John surgery, which is obviously great for him, but the Red Sox haven’t escaped this situation just yet. Price is going to begin the season on the DL with the ever-terrifying elbow strain which generally means more problems down the road. Masahiro Tanaka with the Yankees is a name that comes to mind as somebody who’s played with a strain and hasn’t had it get too bad, but he’s more the exception than the rule. With Price’s velocity declining last season coupled with this injury, this, uh, investment isn’t looking too good for the Socks.
That’s how I feel too, holy shit. Let’s start playing some real, actual baseball games that matter, please!
A big step in the right direction for Devon Travis, who’s playing in a minor league spring game as the designated hitter. Ideally he’s going to be ready for the beginning of the season, but based on how much injuries have troubled Travis, it needs to be taken slowly. The last thing we need is for this minor, short-term injury to result in Travis missing, like, six months of action. Plus, I’ve said it like eight fucking times, but I have a feeling the Jays will use this as an opportunity to not have to expose Ryan Goins to waivers until a more random point in the season when he’s less likely to be claimed.
Before heading to #Clearwater for AB's in minor league gm, #BlueJays Devon Travis (knee) taking BP in #Dunedin this morning.
