If an MLB game was ever to be rated R for explicit content, tonight&#8217;s Blue Jays-Orioles game would be it. A nightmarish 8th inning including a go-ahead home run from R*****d O**r highlighted Baltimore&#8217;s 6-5 win over Toronto on Tuesday night. Tonight&#8217;s loss also clinches the Orioles&#8217; first series win over the Blue Jays since 2019.
It was a tale of two halves for the Jays, as Toronto led this game going into a rain delay during the 6th inning. Toronto struggled to get much going off of Orioles starter Kyle Bradish, who boasted a 6.55 ERA coming into tonight. Bo Bichette homered off of Bradish in the 2nd inning, but that was all the momentum Toronto would have early as the first few innings were once again littered with double plays.
The Jays gathered some momentum going into the delay, as an RBI single from Alejandro Kirk and a 3-run blast from Bichette (who continues to rake in the month of August) put Toronto up 5-3.
However, after that, it was all for the worst. Ryan Mountcastle hit an RBI double in the 7th inning off of Adam Cimber to cut the deficit to one. Mountcastle&#8217;s hit came exactly during Dan and Tabby raving about how good Mountcastle has been against Toronto pitching. Maybe his name should be bleeped out too.
Yimi Garcia pitched the 8th, and this is where kids were recommended to cover their eyes. He allowed a leadoff single to Austin Hays, which led to O**r&#8217;s home run to deep right-center field to give Baltimore the lead.

O**r literally tried to help Toronto come back in the 9th; he fielded a ground ball from Santiago Espinal and threw it 10 feet over the head of Mountcastle at first base. The ball went into the Orioles dugout, which brought Espinal to second. However, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went strikeout-lineout respectively to end the game.
Alek Manoah got the start for Toronto, and he really had to grind to get through five innings. Manoah allowed a base runner in each inning, all going toward a final line of 5 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, and 5 K&#8217;s. Even though it wasn&#8217;t Manoah&#8217;s best start, he kept the Jays within striking distance.
Two of the three runs Manoah allowed tonight came in the 1st inning, but these runs were literally centimeters away from actually counting. With runners on first and second and no one out, Anthony Santander floated a ball to center field. A charging Whit Merrifield slid to catch the ball, and he appeared to secure it. Third base umpire Jordan Baker threw up a rather late sign, and the Blue Jays started to tag the other two base runners for outs, since they all assumed it was still a live ball. After video review, the officials decided that the ball hit the ground ever so slightly before entering Merrifield&#8217;s glove, and the bases were deemed loaded. Instead of an inning-ending triple play, Manoah, allowed two runs after the fact. Who knows if we&#8217;re at this point if the Merrifield play went the other way.
Toronto will look to salvage a game tomorrow with Jose Berrios pitching. If there was a time to have a suitable road start, the time would be now for Berrios. Baltimore will counter with Dean Kremer, whom the Jays have had great success against in the past. Kremer is having a much nicer season, though, posting a 3.43 ERA over 57.2 innings.
