The Jays Had A Meeting With CC Sabathia?

Well here’s one that actually makes a bit of sense, but that certainly comes as a bit of a surprise:
Maybe it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, though. Sabathia, of course, came from the Cleveland organization. He’s shown the ability to pitch in the AL East, even through his decline years. One imagines he knows Toronto fairly well, from having been through here so many times over his nine years with the Yankees. And he’s a pretty decent back-of-the-rotation starter who won’t be looking for an especially long-term deal.
He’s also better than you probably think:
2016-17 Pitcher A: 3.84 ERA; 304.2 IP; 19.1% soft-contact rate; .303 wOBA Pitcher B: 3.81 ERA; 328.1 IP; 24.0% soft-contact rate; .311 wOBA
Pitcher A is David Price. Pitcher B is CC Sabathia. x.com/birenball/stat…

I mean, these last two seasons haven’t exactly been Price’s best, but still! Sabathia would be a rather fun addition, too.
Yes, yes, Ross Atkins told reporters today that he’d had 30 conversations over the past couple of days down at the Winter Meetings, so the fact that the two sides met hardly means anything is imminent, but… sure! Do it!
