The Ricky Tiedemann Report: The young Blue Jays prospect gets out of an early jam, continues to impress

It would have been pretty hard for Ricky Tiedemann to match the performance he had in his first start of the season.
That’s right, it’s Tiedemann watch time. On Wednesday evening, he made his second start of the season against the New York Yankees affiliate, the Somerset Patriots.
As you may know, the 20-year-old left-handed pitcher pitched three scoreless innings last Thursday, allowing just two hits and sitting down nine batters via the strikeout.
His second start wasn’t quite as good. He had a line of 3.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 HBP,  6 K, and loaded the bases in the first inning. In fact, both walks, the hit by pitch, and the sac fly that scored the run, all came in the first inning. As for the hit, it was a ground ball that found a hole, which came in the second inning, before the 20-year-old locked it down.
He also struck out Yankees seventh-best prospect Trey Sweeney in the first inning, as well as their second-best prospect Jasson Domínguez in the third inning.
As it stands, Tiedemann has pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just three hits, a single earned run (1.35 ERA), while walking just two (7.4 BB%) and striking out 15 (55.6 K%). He currently has a 0.02 FIP… which is absolutely insane.
If the Fisher Cats are to maintain their current five-man rotation (Sem Robberse, Tiedemann, Paxton Schultz, Jimmy Robbins, Adam Kloffenstein), Tiedemann’s next start should take place on Tuesday, April 25th. Can’t wait for that.
