After opting out of the All-Star game due to ongoing issues with his elbow, Springer missed the Friday night bonanza.
It&#8217;s nothing new, either. Springer missed a game in late June against the Chicago White Sox where he made mention the big issue for him was swing and misses.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to have to fight through stuff all year,&#8221; Springer told <a href="https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/out-of-blue-jays-lineup-again-springer-going-to-fight-through-stuff-all-year/">Sportsnet&#8217;s Shi Davidi Friday</a>. “It kind of is what it is. Still trying to fight through some stuff. But I&#8217;ll be alright.
&#8220;Between the break and now, we’re just trying to buy an extra day to make sure that it&#8217;s right and when it is, I’ll go back out.”
Officially, it&#8217;s been called inflammation, manager John Schneider told Davidi, but specific details of the injury are &#8220;hard to explain,&#8221; Springer said. Raimel Tapia drew in at centre field Friday and had a tremendous game that included an in-the-park grand slam, but Springer is back on Saturday.
He&#8217;s returning to his typical lead-off spot in the order, but this elbow issue isn&#8217;t going to be going away. The Jays need all the help they can get as fight for traction in what&#8217;s becoming a tight AL wild card race.
