Death, taxes, and Ricky Tiedemann pitching well.
It was announced Tuesday afternoon that the Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann was named the Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week for the first week of the season.
Tiedemann’s first start was on October 3rd, where he finished with a line of 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K. The young lefty followed that up with another strong outing in his second start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, while also hitting two batters.
Overall, he has a 2.70 ERA and a 34.2 K% in the 10 innings that he has pitched. On top of that, the former third-rounder has the most strikeouts in the Arizona Fall League, while also pitching the most innings.
Tiedemann had a successful season in his second full year in the organization. He had a 3.68 ERA in 44 innings pitched between the Florida Complex League, Single-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. The lefty had a fantastic 44.1 K%, but struggled at times with his command, posting a 12.4 BB%.
There’s a serious chance that Tiedemann can pitch for the Blue Jays in 2024, and my oh my does he ever have potential.
