Hey look, another left-handed outfielder is making waves in the Toronto Blue Jays’ farm system.
Jake Casey made a name for himself in 2026, hitting a bunch of home runs in limited at-bats, making him our 16th-best Blue Jays’ prospect in the 2026 end of season prospect countdown. If you missed who ranked 17th, you can read about Danny Thompson Jr. here.
Let’s get to know the 23-year-old outfielder!

Acquired: 15th-round, 2025 MLB Draft
Previous ranking: Unranked
Casey, son of former big league Sean Casey, spent four seasons at Kent. In his senior year, the outfielder slashed .356/.500/.736 with 17 home runs in 269 plate appearances, smashing every single-career high. It also led to the Blue Jays selecting him in the 15th round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Finishing the 2025 season with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays, Casey slashed .281/.439/.531 with three home runs in 82 plate appearances, with a 12.2 BB% and 23.2 K%. He impressed even more in Spring Training, hitting a home run in one of his eight plate appearances.
Casey began the 2026 season with the High-A Vancouver Canadians, but suffered an injury in his first game. That led to the outfielder missing over two months, before he returned on June 9th and hit a home run in a rehab game. Upon returning to the C’s, Casey slashed .243.368/.505 with 12 home runs in 247 plate appearances.
His emergence as a productive bat helped the Canadians capture their second Northwest League Championship in the past four years. However, he didn’t have a great NWL Championship Series. Additionally, there’s some swing and miss in his bat, as Casey rocked a 27.8 K% with the Canadians.
But the power is enticing, to say the least. While there swing and miss knocks his hit tool down quite a bit, Casey hits the ball hard and pulls it as well. It’s not even his best tool, as Casey is a plus runner, which helps his defence in the outfield. Last season with the C’s, Casey played 324 innings in centre field, with right field being his secondary position.
What will determine whether Casey makes it to the show or not is that hit tool. His whiff rate and strikeout rate are concerns, which limits his game power. If he can get it to at least “fringe” level, he’ll skyrocket up both the minor league ladder and prospect rankings. Double-A will be a big test for the outfielder, but he may begin the 2027 season in High-A.
