The Toronto Blue Jays have a plethora of infielders in the upper minors.
There have been a handful of breakouts in the Blue Jays system this season, but one player who continues to fly under the radar is Nick Goodwin. Drafted in 2023, the infielder has put up sneakily good results over parts of the last four seasons.
His last two seasons in particular have done enough to earn him the title of 39th-best Blue Jays’ prospect in the 2026 mid-season top prospect list. If you missed the 40th-ranked prospect, you can read about Ryan Sprock here.
Let’s get to know the infielder!

Acquired: Seventh round, 2023 MLB draft
Previous ranking: N/A
Goodwin spent three seasons at Kansas State, slashing .285/.394/.511 with 12 home runs in 274 plate appearances. Prior to the 2023 draft, he ranked as MLB Pipeline’s 163rd-best draft eligible prospect, but he fell to the Blue Jays with the 214th overall pick.
He had a good end to his 2023 season, but struggled in 2024 with the High-A Vancouver Canadians. Over 109 games, the infielder slashed .201/.282/.318 with nine home runs in 451 plate appearances for a 75 wRC+.
Repeating the level in 2025, Goodwin had a much-improved .244/.366/.403 slash line with 12 home runs in 385 plate appearances. Moreover, his BB% jumped from 7.3% to 13.5%, while his K% dropped from 25.7% to 17.9%. He’s carried that momentum over into 2026.
Reaching the upper minors for the first time in his career, Goodwin slashed .264/.365/.483 with 10 home runs in 312 plate appearances with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, with a 12.8 BB% and 20.5 K%. He’s had a cup of tea with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons as well, batting .289/.418/.400 with five doubles in 55 plate appearances, giving him a season wRC+ of 124.
Goodwin has the type of profile that the Blue Jays love, hit over power with good contact skills and a low strikeout rate. The Prospect Savant data shows he has a whiff percentage that sat at 24.4% in Double-A and a tick under 20% in Triple-A. 
The infielder has averaged around 10 home runs the last three seasons, but his exit velocity data doesn’t really jump off the page. In those 55 Triple-A plate appearances, he has an average exit velocity of 88.9 mph, and a maximum exit velocity of 102.9 mph. There’s not a ton of pop in his bat, but he gives good at-bats.
He’s capable of playing second, third, and shortstop, mainly playing in the middle infield this season. Goodwin is a sound defender and profiles as a right-handed batting utility infielder. Expect to see Goodwin begin the 2027 season with the Bisons, and if he has a good start, he could position himself to be called up at some point next season.
