It took a while, but Tucker Toman has finally broken out.
Drafted in the compensation rounds in the 2022 MLB Draft, Toman struggled for parts of his first four seasons in professional ball before figuring it out in the summer of 2025. Now 22 years old, the infielder ranks as our 25th-best Toronto Blue Jays’ prospect in our 2026 mid-season countdown.

Tucker Toman

Toman entered the 2022 draft with a ton of promise. At the time, he was a switch-hitting third baseman with power from both sides and a strong arm. He was selected with the compensation pick the Jays received for Marcus Semien and joined the Florida Complex League Blue Jays to end the 2022 season.
Over 46 plate appearances, the infielder slashed .289/.391/.368 with three doubles and a 26.1 K%, a solid start to his professional career. Unfortunately, he struggled for the next two seasons with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays. In 2024, he slashed just .221/.301/.318 with four home runs in 326 plate appearances, with a 31.9 K%. That was the season Toman lost most of his shine as a prospect.
He began his 2025 season with the D-Jays yet, starting the season slashing .216/.308/.302 with a home run in his first 133 plate appearances. But from May 25th, Toman seemingly figured it out. Over his final 291 plate appearances, including 53 in High-A, Toman slashed .288/.375/.404 with five home runs and a 22.7 K%.
Toman has solely hit from the left-side in 2026 and picked up right where he left off with the Vancouver Canadians. In 79 games, the infielder slashed .274/.399/.449 with 11 home runs in 336 plate appearances, good for a 129 wRC+. Even better is his 14.9 BB% and 25 K% at the level.
Unsurprisingly, Toman earned a promotion to Double-A, where it has taken some time to adjust to better pitching. In his 19 games with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Toman is slashing .221/.312/.324 with a home run, giving him a career-best 12 home runs this season. His walk rate and strikeout rate are still strong, but he just hasn’t hit for authority like he did in High-A.
The jump from High-A to Double-A is one of the toughest in baseball, and there are plenty of examples of current Fisher Cats who have taken some time to adjust. That said, Toman is still mainly a third baseman with experience at both second and first base. We’ve also seen some of that power emerge and an improved hit tool.
Although Toman is Rule 5 eligible, he’s likely to begin the 2027 season with the Fisher Cats. He’ll need to take another step forward in 2027, but Toman has emerged as a legitimate prospect in the organization.
