<p>The<a href="https://bluejaysnation.com/"> Toronto Blue Jays</a> have clinched the AL East division title and will be looking to make a run to the World Series this postseason. Off the field, another member of the Blue Jays organization is in the running for another award this season.</p>

<p>Dan Shulman, the Blue Jays&#8217; play-by-play announcer through Sportsnet, has been named a finalist for the 2026 Ford C. Frick Award, an honour presented by the Baseball Hall of Fame to recognize a broadcaster for their contributions to the game of baseball. To be nominated, the broadcaster (whether active or retired) must have a minimum of 10 continuous years of service with a club and/or network.</p>
<p>Shulman has been with the Blue Jays through two stints, starting as the play-by-play commentator in 1995 with TSN alongside current partner Buck Martinez. In 2001, he moved to ESPN, covering baseball and college basketball while also covering baseball from 2002 through 2007 for ESPN&#8217;s MLB Radio coverage, working on Sunday Night Baseball coverage and various events.</p>

<p>The Toronto product returned to Sportsnet in 2016 to call limited Blue Jays games and has worked in the booth ever since, becoming the go-to play-by-play announcer for the organization alongside Martinez.</p>
<p>Shulman has been nominated for the Frick Award before and also has some significant hardware in his trophy case. The Jays&#8217; broadcaster was named the Jack Graney Award in 2020 by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and also took home a Canadian Screen Award in 2022 for Best Sports Play-by-Play. He is also a two-time winner of the Sports Media Canada Broadcaster of the Year Award (2000,2007) and was also named the 2011 NSMA National Sportscaster of the Year for his work.</p>
<p>The remaining finalists for the 2026 Frick Award include Joe Buck, Skip Caray, Rene Cardenas, Gary Cohen, Duane Kuiper, John Rooney, John Sterling, and Canadian Jacques Doucet, who covered the play-by-play for the Montreal Expos from 1969 to 2004. Representing the Blue Jays, Tony Kubek (2009) and Tom Cheek (2013) have won the Frick Award.</p>
<p>The winner will be announced at the Winter Baseball Meetings on December 10th and honoured at the July 25th Awards presentation at Hall of Fame weekend in Cooperstown.</p>
