The last two series haven’t gone the Toronto Blue Jays‘ way.
Things were going so well for the Blue Jays entering July 27th’s game against the Detroit Tigers. After a 10-4 loss, they proceeded to lose three consecutive games against the Baltimore Orioles, before winning the series finale. Against the Kansas City Royals, the Blue Jays dropped two of three, cutting their lead in the American League East down to three.
The good news for the Blue Jays is that they have a chance to get back on track against the 30-81 Colorado Rockies, heading to Denver for a three-game series against the bottom-dwelling team. It’s safe to say that they need to win all three of these games, as the Boston Red Sox have been just as hot as the Blue Jays the past few months.
With a right-handed pitcher on the mound for the Rockies, Nathan Lukes leads off for the Jays. Bo Bichette returns to the second spot in the lineup for the first time since July 29. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. bats third. Addison Barger, Alejandro Kirk, and Daulton Varsho are in the middle third, while Ernie Clement, Joey Loperfido, and Davis Schneider are in the bottom third. Schneider will get a rare start against a righty.
As for the Blue Jays’ starter, Eric Lauer will make his 12th start of the season. At Coors Field, the left-handed pitcher has a 12.73 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched, his second-worst ERA at any ballpark. Hopefully, he can buck that trend on Monday evening.
Let’s set up Monday evening’s game!
