For the second time this season, the Toronto Blue Jays head to Fenway Park to face the Boston Red Sox.
Last time in Boston, back in the first half of April, the Blue Jays won three of four from the Red Sox. They’re coming off a series win against the Cleveland Guardians, winning two of three to move to six games above .500.
Jose Berrios will start Friday, following up on Kevin Gausman’s terrific outing on Thursday. It’ll be interesting to see if he can match Gausman’s eight scoreless innings from Thursday. The last time Berrios started at Fenway on April 7, he threw seven innings of one-run ball. He didn’t have his best stuff, but Berrios just powered through.
It looked as if Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would be out of the lineup; the Jays even released their first lineup without him. But just after 6:00 PM ET, it was announced that their star first baseman would in fact be in the lineup. He was hit by a pitch and removed from Thursday’s game. The Jays retaliated by hitting Guardians’ third baseman Jose Ramirez.
Leading off for the Blue Jays is Bo Bichette, followed by Addison Barger, while Guerrero Jr. has another start in the third spot. Hitting cleanup is Alejandro Kirk, followed by George Springer and Nathan Lukes. Ernie Clement, who was originally slated for his sixth start at first base, moves to seventh, followed by Andres Gimenez and Jonatan Clase. Coming out of the lineup is Alan Roden.
Let’s set up Friday evening’s game!
