Blue Jays place Trey Yesavage on IL, recall Lazaro Estrada & Chase Lee and option Chad Dallas

The Toronto Blue Jays’ rotation is back down to five healthy arms. 
On Wednesday, before the series finale against the Houston Astros, the Blue Jays announced that right-hander Trey Yesavage was placed on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation. 
After tossing two scoreless innings, Yesavage was injured while throwing his warm-up pitches to begin the bottom of the third. Following a visit from manager John Schneider and athletic trainer Voon Chong, Yesavage was lifted from the eventual 7-2 loss.
Through 18 starts this year, Yesavage is 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Across his 93.2 innings pitched, the 23-year-old has struck out 91 and held opposing teams to a .185 average. 
Yesavage is set to head to the IL for the second time this season, as the former first-round draft pick in 2024 opened the year with right shoulder impingement that delayed his season debut until April 28. With 48 games to go, and postseason hopes hanging by a thread, this injury only makes the road to October baseball even tougher. 
To take the place of Yesavage on the active roster, the Blue Jays recalled Lazaro Estrada from Triple-A Buffalo. Estrada who was optioned the day prior, to make room for José Soriano was allowed to be brought back due to Yesavage’s IL placement. 
Through four games with the Blue Jays this season, Estrada has pitched to a 4.82 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. The right-hander has struck out six, walked five, and held opponents to a .129 average over 9.1 innings pitched. 
Also brought back to the active roster on Wednesday was right-hander Chase Lee. After being acquired from the Detroit Tigers in December, Lee will now be working on his third stint with the big-league club. 
Through three games, Lee has recorded an 8.10 ERA and a 1.80 WHIP. The 27-year-old has allowed two hits, with both being home runs, four walks, and has struck out one batter across 3.1 innings pitched. 
To make room for Lee, the Blue Jays optioned right-hander Chad Dallas to Buffalo. The right-hander was forced into action last night in the bottom of the third inning following Yesavage’s injury. Dallas threw 74 pitches, which would keep him out of action for a few days, and turned in a pitching line of 3.0 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 3 K. 
Through three games this season, Dallas is 1-1 with an 8.22 ERA and a 2.09 WHIP. Across 7.2 innings pitched, Dallas allowed seven hits, seven earned runs, six walks, and struck out six.
