Blue Jays place Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on 7-day IL, recall Daz Cameron & DFA Lazaro Estrada

The Toronto Blue Jays’ lineup took a hit before Saturday’s contest against the New York Yankees. 
Before first pitch, the Blue Jays announced that they placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the 7-day concussion injured list. Guerrero was removed from Friday night’s 3-1 victory over the Yankees after taking George Lombard Jr.’s knee to his head. 
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Guerrero and Lombard collided after an errant throw from Luis García Jr. that allowed the Blue Jays’ first baseman to come home to score and tie the game 1-1. After the Blue Jays took a 2-1 lead, Guerrero was replaced by Charles McAdoo at first base to begin the top of the seventh. 
After the game while speaking to the media, manager John Schneider announced that Guerrero was being sent for concussion protocol testing. 
“He got hit pretty good with the knee there from Lombard in the head. So they’re checking him out,” Schneider said. “You always got to be a little bit careful and see how he wakes up tomorrow and kind of go from there.”
Through 115 games this season, Guerrero is batting .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. While the 27-year-old has yet to hit a home run at Rogers Centre this season, he has hit .310 over his past seven games and is the heartbeat of the Blue Jays’ lineup. 
Taking Guerrero’s spot on the active roster is outfielder Daz Cameron. Cameron joined the Blue Jays on a minor-league deal on July 8 after being designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers. 
Through 23 games with the Bisons this season, Cameron is batting .367 with three home runs and 15 RBIs. The 29-year-old has reached base at a .462 clip and brings 160 games worth of MLB experience to the Blue Jays. 
In 160 career games with the Detroit Tigers, Athletics, and Brewers, Cameron is a career .200 hitter with one home run and three RBIs. 
To make room for Cameron on the 40-man roster, right-hander Lazaro Estrada was designated for assignment. Estrada has been shuttled between Buffalo and Toronto this season, and was out of options on his contract following him being sent down yesterday to clear a spot for Paul Sewald. 
Through eight games this season, Estrada is 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. The 27-year-old struck out nine batters across 13 innings and held opponents to a .178 average during that span. 
For his MLB career, Estrada has pitched in 10 games and is 1-1 with a 6.64 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. The righty picked up both his first career win and save during the Blue Jays’ series in Philadelphia running from August 7-9.
