In what has been a big couple of days for promotions across the Toronto Blue Jays’ farm system, manager John Schneider announced one more before the series opener against the Boston Red Sox.
Schneider confirmed to the media that No. 16-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline Daniel Guerra will be moving from High-A Vancouver to Double-A New Hampshire and will join the Fisher Cats.
After putting together a strong 2025 season in Single-A with Dunedin, Guerra opened the season with the Canadians and has taken himself to another level. In 14 starts with the Canadians this season, Guerra went 3-3 with a 3.20 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP.
The 22-year-old threw 59 innings to this point this season with the Canadians and struck out 78 batters, while holding opponents to a .226 average during that span. The only blip on Guerra’s radar this season was an injury that forced him to the injured list on June 13.
After missing over a month, Guerra was sent out on a rehab assignment in which he appeared in both the FCL and Single-A. Guerra tossed six innings across his two stops before returning to the Canadians’ rotation on July 30.
In two outings since returning to the Canadians, Guerra tossed a combined five innings in which he allowed two runs on six hits, four walks, all while striking out five batters. Now set to be tested at the Double-A level, Guerra is proving to be a pitcher to be watched within the Blue Jays’ minor-league system.
