Another Toronto Blue Jays’ prospect is playing Winter Leagues in the end part of 2025.
Richardo Gallardo, Damiano Palmegiani, and Alexis Hernandez are all in Venezuela, although it appears the latter two are inactive. Jonatan Clase is tearing up the Dominican Winter League, CJ Van Eyk is having a strong season in Mexico, and Manuel Beltre has had a cup of tea with the Perth Heat in the Australian Baseball League.
Joining Beltre in the Australian Baseball League is Dylan Leach, a prospect whom the Blue Jays signed in the summer of 2025. Through 22 plate appearances with the Sydney Blue Sox, the 23-year-old is slashing .118/.273/.118 with two RBIs and two singles. He’s also walked (four) more than he’s struck out (three).
Leach, from Carthage, Texas, attended Carthage High School. In his first two collegiate seasons, he attended the University of Arkansas and was teammates with current Blue Jays’ prospect Jace Bohrofen. For the 2023 season, he attended the University of Missouri, then played for Missouri State University in 2024, his senior year.
He went undrafted when eligible, so he signed with the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League. In his first professional season, he slashed .302/.448/.558 with eight home runs in just 163 plate appearances. Leach began the 2025 season with the Mustangs, slashing .386/.517/.750 with three home runs in 58 plate appearances.
He signed with the Blue Jays organization on Jun. 7 and spent the rest of the season with the team’s Florida Complex League team. There, the switch-hitting catcher/outfielder/first baseman slashed .163/.276/.204 with two doubles and three RBIs in 22 plate appearances. Leach was part of the FCL team that won the championship.
The Australian Baseball League consists of four teams: the Blue Sox, Heat, the Adelaide Giants, and the Brisbane Bandits. Former Blue Jays prospect Conner Greene plays for the Giants, and he was traded in Jan. 2018 in the Randal Grichuk deal. The season runs until mid-January.
