The Blue Jays checked in on Isiah Kiner-Falefa, but with DeJong acquired, presumably IKF no longer fits. Jays sought SS depth with star Bo Bichette out (Bichette is not expected out too long)

Good news is starting to leak out of Toronto after the club acquired shortstop Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday afternoon.
And for those still holding their breath awaiting news of Bo Bichette’s injury, you can all exhale. At least a little bit, that is.
According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, Bichette’s injury isn’t expected to keep him out for long.
The news is great considering how serious things looked initially. Bichette was injured during Monday night’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles as he rounded first base heading towards second after hitting a single. As he turned the corner, Bichette stopped up looking to get back to first base, but pulled up as he did so immediately reaching for the front of his right knee.
Non-contact injuries like these are never a good sign, but a prognosis of a short-term injury would be ideal for the Jays.
DeJong, meanwhile, is set to join the Jays for Wednesday’s game against the Orioles and will presumably slide into the starting lineup. There’s always a chance he could slide over to second base after Bichette returns. Late in his first season in the big leagues, DeJong played a number of games from that spot.
Nonetheless, the Jays are likely to try and sneak in at least another move before the 6 p.m. EST trade deadline this evening.
