The Toronto Blue Jays have signed another International Free Agent.
According to Sports Chosun’s Na Yurim, the Blue Jays have signed Korean pitcher Kwon Si-Woo. Hat tip to Twitter user Nolan (@NWints30) for finding this out, the user is an excellent individual to follow for knowing the next Blue Jays’ IFA signing.
Si-Woo is a right-handed pitcher and was seen as a top draft prospect in the upcoming Korean Baseball Organization draft. According to an article written for mk.co.kr, Si-woo has a high release point with a fastball sitting around 93 mph, as well as a slider and a curveball.
The right-handed pitcher spent last season with Jangchung High School in Seoul, South Korea. That’s the same school that Seojun Moon attended before signing with the Blue Jays organization during the 2025 international free agency period.
South Korea is a country the Blue Jays have honed in on in the past two years, as they also attempted to sign Korean two-way player Ji-Woo Kim back in June. However, he elected to announce for the upcoming KBO Draft set to take place on September 21st.
Si-Woo’s bonus has yet to be announced, but Nolan noted that it’d be a solid chunk of the Jays’ remaining bonus pool money. It’s unclear how much IFA bonus pool money that the Blue Jays have remaining, Francys Romero reported that the Blue Jays have one of the largest pools remaining back in mid-August. Romero is another great person to follow for IFA updates.

However much the Blue Jays have remaining in the 2026 period must be used, as it doesn’t carry over to the 2027 period. That said, there may not even be a 2027 IFA period according to Romero, as Major League Baseball is on the cusp of a lockout.

The Blue Jays have been linked to Junior Fortunato in the 2027 period and Ángel Montás in the 2028 period, so it’s unclear if they’ll still get those deal done.
