It was another nail-biter for the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday afternoon, but they have gained some ground in the AL wild-card race by pulling out a 7-5 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Amid a wet and wild game that saw a one-hour rain delay after the bottom of the fourth that chased both starting pitchers from the game, multiple bats contributed to the win. Most notably from an oft-seeming-to-struggle Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and recent call-up Spencer Horwitz, who launched solo shots in the top of the third and fourth, respectively, that kept the Jays in it early.
And with the game tied at five heading into the top of the ninth, Whit Merrifield drove in Mason McCoy, who pinch-ran for Santiago Espinal after he singled to kick off the inning to give the Jays a lead. Then, it was Ernie Clement whose bat stayed hot singling into right field to drive in Horwitz, who walked earlier in the frame.
As a whole, it was the Boys from the Bisons who played key roles in the Jays&#8217; series win over the weekend.
Clement went 6-for-13 at the plate with a triple, home run, four RBIs and a 1.300 OPS. Horwitz went 3-for-5 with a walk, a home run, two RBIs and a 1.867 OPS. Davis Schneider went 3-for-11 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs, three walks and a 1.103 OPS.
The trio have filled in more than well when called upon as of late and all three played key parts of the Jays&#8217; success this weekend.
