Muñoz went from a relatively unknown prospect to one to keep an eye on for the rest of the season. He’s done so well this season (when healthy) that he ranks as our 42nd-best prospect in the 2025 mid-season update. <h2>Getting to know Yeuni Muñoz…</h2>

Born: October 4, 2003
Acquired: 2021 International Free Agency

During the 2021 International Free Agency period, the Blue Jays signed <a href="https://bluejaysnation.com/news/under-the-radar-blue-jays-prospects-yeuni-munoz">Muñoz</a> to a bonus worth $315,000. That season with the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays, he slashed .260/.363/.387 with a homer in 182 plate appearances, with a 13.2 BB% and 30.2 K%. The outfielder got just 28 plate appearances in 2022 with the Florida Complex League team, and another 106 plate appearances with the FCL Jays in 2023.
Like previous seasons, Muñoz missed significant time in 2024. This time, it was due to a scary head accident in July. He missed 20 days, but returned to the Injured List in August. When healthy, Muñoz slashed .179/.307/.292 with two home runs in 127 plate appearances for an 81 wRC+.
So why does he rank as our 42nd-best prospect? Well, before an injury early this season, Muñoz was off to one of the best starts in the organization. In April, the 21-year-old outfielder slashed .323/.408/.645 with five home runs in just 71 plate appearances, giving him a 188 wRC+.
Once again, Muñoz hit the Injured List, this time with a knee injury. Muñoz briefly rehabbed with the FCL Jays from July 3 until July 15, but didn’t appear in another game until August 15. This season with the D-Jays, Muñoz is slashing .287/.381/.581 with five homers and six doubles in 84 plate appearances.
Muñoz has immense raw power, averaging an exit velocity of 93.6 mph, <a href="https://prospectsavant.com/player/699097">in the 94th percentile for Single-A players this season</a>. That said, Muñoz has a ton of swing-and-miss as well, often whiffing on pitches and chasing outside the zone, especially on off-speed stuff.
On top of the whiffs and strikeouts, Muñoz ranks so low on our top prospect countdown because the track record isn’t great, and he’s dealt with plenty of injuries in his career. If he can finish strong and stay healthy while cutting the strikeout rate down, he’d get a significant boost. For the 21-year-old, it&#8217;s all about harnessing that power, because there&#8217;s a lot of potential in the bat.
