Things worth mentioning…

• The silver lining to this game, beyond, of course the fact that the Jays already had the series won with Tuesday’s win, was the fact Marcus Stroman pitched pretty well. He went seven innings and allowed two runs on six hits and one walk. The best part of that is the lack of walks. A lack of command has been the key ingredient in Stroman’s early-season struggles, so it’s good to see him finding the strike zone.
• Aaron Loup came into the game in the eighth to finish things off but couldn’t do it. He only got two outs and allowed three hits and a walk. That sucked because it resulted in the Jays having to use Carlos Ramirez to get the last out of the inning. Obviously that isn’t ideal given the fact the team is playing a double header in Cleveland tomorrow.
• The bats were, uh, non-existent today. Rookie Fernando Romero was recalled to make his first career start and he shut the Jays down for just four hits over five-and-a-third shutout innings. Damn, I was really looking forward to watching the bats tee off on Phil Hughes in the final game of the series.
