Blue Jays’ Lenyn Sosa appears again in Single-A with Dunedin

Lenyn Sosa took another step in his rehab process as he attempts to work his way back to the Toronto Blue Jays roster. 
On Thursday night, during the Dunedin Blue Jays’ 11-7 loss against the Tampa Tarpons, the 26-year-old appeared in his second game in three nights for Dunedin. 
After occupying the designated hitter spot on Tuesday, a contest in which he was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Sosa played five innings at second base and went 1-for-3. 
In his first at-bat of the evening against Tarpons starter J.T. Etheridge, Sosa got ahead in the count 3-1 and drove a 94.5 MPH fastball to right field for a double. The double was his second in as many games during his rehab stint and came off the bat at 99.2 MPH. 
Returning to the plate in the bottom of the second, Sosa and Etheridge once again engaged in a five-pitch battle but this time it was the pitcher who came out victorious. Behind in the count 1-2, Sosa popped up a 95.8 MPH fastball to Tarpons second baseman Luis Escudero. 
Sosa’s final at-bat of the evening came during the bottom of the fourth. On a 1-1 count, Etheridge turned to his sweeper and got Sosa to chase a pitch out of the zone, resulting in a popout to Tarpons shortstop Anthony Potestio. 
In 40 games this season, split between the Chicago White Sox and Blue Jays, Sosa is batting .195 with one home run and nine RBIs. Since joining the Blue Jays, following his acquisition in April, he is batting .188 with his lone home run and six RBIs. 
If Sosa can return to full health and showcase the form he displayed during the 2025 season, when he hit 22 home runs and drove in 75 runs, he could have an impact on this Blue Jays roster due to their struggles against left-handed pitching.
