The Toronto Blue Jays liked what they saw in the south side of Chicago.
The Jays announced on their social media platforms earlier today that the club has acquired infielder Lenyn Sosa from the Chicago in exchange for prospect Jordan Rich and a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Born in Venezuela, Sosa was signed by the White Sox as an international free agent in 2016. He made his big league debut in 2022 and floated between the minors and the big leagues over the following campaigns until 2025, when he suited up in 140 games.
Through 315 games and 1155 at-bats, Sosa owns a .245/.272/.387 slash line with 37 home runs, 128 RBIs, and a .659 OPS. He clubbed 22 home runs last season when given some runway to play every day, and ranked first on the squad in RBIs (75).
Sosa is a versatile infielder and can play every position on the infield, but has spent most of the season in the DH spot this season. For the 2026 season, the right-handed bat owns a .212/.212/.303 slash line with seven hits, three doubles, and a .515 OPS.
The Jays have dealt with some injury issues this season, including position players Alejandro Kirk, Anthony Santander, Addison Barger, and George Springer, while Myles Straw and Tyler Heineman have been battling some minor ailments.
Heading to Chicago is left-handed hitting outfielder Jordan Rich, a 17th-round draft pick out of American Heritage (FL) last summer. Rich has yet to make his affiliated debut since being drafted, and was slated to begin the year in the Florida Complex League. The White Sox will either get cash or an additional player as part of the deal.
To make room for Sosa on the 40-man roster, the club moved Shane Bieber to the 60-day IL.
Bieber has been on the IL to begin the season. The Blue Jays will need to make a roster move to keep Sosa on the big league squad, as he is out of minor league options and the Jays did not take a player off the roster in the deal.
