The steady parade of players being promoted within the Toronto Blue Jays organization continued on Monday.
Both right-hander Dax Dathe and infielder Dameury Pena earned themselves promotions from Single-A Dunedin to High-A Vancouver to join the Canadians.
After spending four seasons in the NCAA, Dathe was signed by the Blue Jays as an undrafted free agent after pitching in 12 games with Louisiana State University.
Signed to a minor-league contract on July 17 and assigned to Dunedin, Dathe tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts on July 29 during his first career professional outing.
Through six games pitched with Dunedin this season, Dathe recorded a 3.52 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. The 25-year-old has recorded two saves in two opportunities and has struck out 15 batters across his 7.2 innings pitched.
Pena is being promoted to Vancouver after a strong 12-game stint with Dunedin. Acquired as part of the return from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Jeff Hoffman, Pena batted .318 with four RBIs and reached base at a .388 clip.
Across three different teams this season between both Single-A and High-A, Pena has appeared in 95 games and is batting .302 with one home run and 51 RBIs. Pena has reached base at a .374 clip and has stolen 22 bases in 33 attempts this year.
