Spring training officially kicks off this week for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Pitchers and catchers are due to report Thursday to Dunedin, Fla., while the first full-squad workout is scheduled for next Tuesday, meaning preparations for the 2024 season will soon be underway. And it won’t be long before Grapefruit League action begins.
Sportsnet – owned by Rogers Communications, as are the Blue Jays, and serves as the franchise’s official partner – televised all 16 home exhibition games at TD Ballpark last spring, which is expected to remain the case in 2024. They also broadcasted all 30 contests, both home and away, on the radio or via live audio stream on the company’s website.
But Sportsnet has yet to release its 2024 broadcast schedule. Though, considering last season’s was released on Feb. 8, 2023, chances are this season’s will drop either this week or next.
Until then, we know of seven road games that’ll be televised, confirmed by those opponents’ broadcast schedules. Those will include one each versus the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers, two versus the Pittsburgh Pirates and three versus the Philadelphia Phillies.
Toronto’s Grapefruit League opponents that haven’t released this season’s broadcast schedule include five teams: the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins.
The Blue Jays’ exhibition opener comes in Dunedin against the Phillies on Feb. 24, with their spring finale scheduled for Mar. 25 versus the Pirates.
