Blue Jays 8, Tigers 4: The losing streak is over!

There was a lot of good stuff going on in today’s win so this is going to be an exclusively positive post.

Things worth mentioning…

  • I know this doesn’t sound positive at all but it is because I don’t want to hear about how a goose is making the bad Tigers good enough to beat the bad Blue Jays. I want none of that. Finally the Tigers and their goddamn rally goose lost a game. Fuck that goose and its bullshit. Thankfully it’s finally over.
  •  So now that I yelled online about the goose let’s slide into some more positive stuff. Like Aaron Sanchez, for starters. Sanchez put together his first quality start since late April by going six innings and allowing just one run. He was throwing the fastball more and getting ahead in counts which is a positive sign because during his bad run he had been leaning too heavily into the changeup. Sanchez being good is one of those things that can make the season much more watchable.
  • Another positive today was Randal Grichuk having, like, his first ever good game as a Blue Jay. Grichuk came off the DL Friday and had a big day on Sunday picking up a couple of hits and three RBIs. Given the fact he only had seven hits all year coming into the game, it’s a positive step.
  • The Jays rally in the seventh inning was good stuff. We hadn’t seen them actually string together hits in what felt like a month. In the seventh, they scored four runs on a single, walk, double, single, single, and ground-rune double. Rallies without homers are exciting!
