Blue Jays Officially Add Brett Anderson To Roster, Option Campos To Triple-A

Just as we all expected, Brett Anderson has been added to the Blue Jays 25-man roster just hours before he’s scheduled to make his first start with the club. In a corresponding roster move, Leonel Campos, who was recalled yesterday, has been optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo.

And, of course, Anderson’s spot on the 40-man roster comes from Nori Aoki being designated for assignment yesterday. We don’t have any new news on Aoki, who will either be traded or released prior to the end of the month so he can be eligible to play on another team’s postseason roster.

Anderson has killed it in his two minor league games with the Buffalo Bisons, scattering just one run and four hits over nine-and-two-third innings. His season with the Cubs before being released was nothing short of a disaster, but Anderson is still only 29 years old, and this could be an audition for him to crack next year’s team as a depth starter.

Campos has spent a lot of time on the bus this season, filling the shoes of Ryan Tepera and Chad Jenkins before him. According to Minor Leaguer on Twitter, Campos has now been optioned to the minors seven different times this season. If I cared enough to check, we could confirm whether or not this was a franchise record!
