The 26-year-old right-hander was placed on the 15-day IL due to a right elbow sprain, the Toronto Blue Jays announced Friday. He left due to injury after just an inning and two-thirds in his last start against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.
Additionally, the club officially announced the acquisition of right-hander Ryan Burr from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations, a deal <a href="https://x.com/ShiDavidi/status/1796334290503905577" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first reported by Sportsnet&#8217;s Shi Davidi on Thursday.</a> The 30-year-old has been selected to the big-league roster.
To make room on the 40-man roster, fellow righty Joel Kuhnel &#8212; purchased from the Houston Astros on May 4 &#8212; has been designated for assignment.

Manoah has been diagnosed with a sprained UCL in his right elbow, Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters prior to first pitch. He is scheduled to visit Dr. Keith Meister next Thursday to determine his next steps.
It has been a long, winding road back to the big leagues for the 2022 All-Star. Following last season&#8217;s horrific struggles, he missed most of spring training before beginning the regular season on the IL with a shoulder injury. But after making five rehab starts, four with triple-A Buffalo, he returned to the majors earlier this month to make five starts with Toronto.
The American League Cy Young Award finalist from two years ago pitched to a 3.70 ERA with 26 strikeouts and eight walks, shaking off a rough 2024 debut by tossing 14 consecutive shutout innings over his next two starts. But any momentum he gained has now, unfortunately, been lost.
Burr, who posted a 2.16 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 15 relief appearances at triple-A this season, should provide another option for an already-taxed Blue Jays bullpen &#8212; whose workload isn&#8217;t about to get any lighter.
Manoah&#8217;s next turn in the rotation comes Tuesday with the Baltimore Orioles in town. That&#8217;ll likely present an opportunity for Bowden Francis to return from the IL, giving Schneider a fresh arm who can help cover innings as the club proceeds without a fifth starter.
