Worth Mentioning

• The Jays were actually able to get a run early on in this game, Freddy Galvis hitting an RBI single in the third. Back-to-back hits — a single from Alen Hanson to left field and a right-field single by Billy McKinney led to the Galvis RBI to make the score 2-1 Boston. Teoscar Hernandez was able to hit a sac-fly in the same inning, tying up the game and scoring McKinney.
• Galvis continued his MVP-esque season with an RBI double at the top of the ninth. He finished the game 2-for-5 with that two RBI.
• Lourdes Gurriel Jr. comes back from a 1-2 count and stabs a single to right field to give the Jays a 3-2 lead at the top of the fourth. Some rare ability to bat in runs early on this game. Somewhat suits how Boston’s season is going so far. Their pitching — even Chris Sale — has been horrendous and that’s all it took for the Jays to finally have some consistent hitting. Their pitching is so bad right now that a passed ball was able to score Danny Jansen at the top of the fourth, just in a spiral of despair for any pitcher wearing a Red Sox uniform — hilarious.
• Gurriel finished that fourth inning with a straight steal of home to put the Jays up 5-2. Absolutely brilliant to just absolutely kill all of Boston’s hopes and dreams in this game. He later was able to hit a double at the top of the sixth off of the Green Monster, finishing 2-for-4 with one RBI.
• One thing that was extremely evident was that Montoyo wants to use the hit-and-run strategy as much as possible, it was just not there to start the season since you actually need hits to do it.
• Chris Sale was replaced by Tyler Thornburg after pitching only four innings. He finished with seven hits against, five earned runs and only three strikeouts. Ha!
• Betts hit a solo home run straight over the Green Monster to lead-off the top of the sixth, cutting the Jays’ lead to 5-3.
• Shoemaker’s game was done with 5.2 innings pitched. He totalled five hits against, two earned runs and four strikeouts.
• Demonstrating his elite defensive ability, Teoscar Hernandez had an easy popfly to catch but just absolutely flushed it and had to just bounce out of his glove easily. Somewhat embarrassing and resulted in a Boston run scored and it turned into a one-run game.

• Randal Grichuk was able to finish the game 2-for-4 with an RBI single at the top of the seventh that was able to score in Hernandez after he was able to net a walk.
• After a couple of brutal outings, Daniel Hudson has been able to slightly redeem himself with a 1-2-3 seventh inning including two strikeouts.
• It got tense at the bottom of the eighth. After Bogaerts was able to hit an RBI single to right field and come within one run at 6-5, Joe Biagini had a massive groundout to hand Devers, which resulted in an infield groundout — luckily.
