There’s baseball things happening today! Players are rolling into Florida in the best shape of their life and they’re ready to hit baseballs better than ever before because hope springs eternal and we’re all pretty much on board with whatever random bullshit news we hear because thank fuck winter is almost over.
Like honestly if someone wants to report that Luke Maile spent all winter lifting free weights in an abandoned Costco and he’s ready to smash like 40 dingers I am absolutely on board with it because I want to be sitting outside enjoying a beverage and watching a baseball game so badly I can’t even think straight.
One of the first player updates we got today was about Toronto’s shortstop: Troy Tulowitzki. Ben Nicholson-Smith reported that Tulo had a bone spur in his heel removed and that everything is all good. Okay, nice. Keep the good news coming!
Woah woah woah slow down there buddy. Gregor Chisholm rolled in a few minutes later with a report that said something completely different. Apparently Tulo hasn’t had this bone spur removed. Instead, it’s a thing he’s dealing with and John Gibbons doesn’t think it’ll be an issue.
The full Gibby quote from Gregor reads…
“The ankle feels fine. He had a little bone spur in his heel that was aggravating him but he should be good to go when he gets here … I think he has had it a bit before but it flared up on him. No big deal. He should be fine.”
Okay, so it seems based on had that this bone spur is no longer in Tulo’s heel. Okay, regardless, let’s hope this isn’t a thing because I want to believe this is the year the Jays are going to get 2009 Troy Tulowitzki.
