Keep the good times rolling! The jays are coming off a sweep of the miserable A’s and they’ll have an excellent opportunity to continue their unlikely climb up the standings against another not-so-good team, the L.A. Angels.

News and Scuttlebutt

Time flies! The Blue Jays acquired Troy Tulowitzki two years ago today. Even though Tulo isn’t the player he once was, it was a where were you when? kind of moment for Jays fans and it represents the beginning of a massive shift in the organization’s direction. Anyways, Arden Zwelling wrote an interesting thing revisiting the Tulo trade that’s worth a read.
The Jays seem to be on their way to a Francisco Liriano trade. The Royals are the team interested, and while he isn’t going to net much — rumour is that they’re looking to re-acquire Rule 5 guy Glenn Sparkman — it’s better than nothing for an impending free agent.

Blue Jays

J.A. Happ: 4.13 ERA, 72 IP, 9.5 H9, 1.9 HR9, 2.4 BB9, 8.1 SO9

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Parker Bridwell: 3.09 ERA, 46 2/3 IP, 9.3 H9, 1.7 HR9, 2.3 BB9, 5.8 SO9
Who the hell is Parker Bridwell? Some guy with an ERA and record that look very good and underlying numbers that suggests it’s going to collapse sooner rather than later. He’s only striking out 5.8 batters per nine innings, which is never a good recipe for success.
