Game Threat: Double Dip Part One, Blue Jays (6-14) @ Cardinals (9-11)

News and Scuttlebutt
Some injury news here. Aaron Sanchez is on track to be back this weekend, while J.A. Happ still doesn’t have a timetable for a return. Happ’s injury relates to his elbow, so it’s definitely not something you want to mess around with.
The teams will be allowed to add a 26th player to their roster temporarily for the second leg of the double header, and the Jays have opted to bring up Danny Barnes. That makes sense, because with Mat Latos and Casey Lawrence both pitching today, it could be a heavy load for the bullpen.

And now, the lineups…
Blue Jays
Mat Latos: 5.0 IP, 7.20 ERA, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 1 HR
National League Birds
Carlos Martinez: 22 2/3 IP, 4.76 ERA, 12 ER, 23 H, 11 BB, 3 HR
Mat Latos will make his second start of the season for the Blue Jays, while Carlos Martinez, who’s struggled since his dominant start on Opening Day will go for the Cardinals. That Jays lineup looks like something they would send to Clearwater during spring training. Yikes. Martinez has seen both his contact and walk rate go up, which seems to be an issue stemming from his sinker, which is being clubbed at a .476 batting average against.
