Game Threat: Going For The ‘Sweep’! Blue Jays (20-26) @ Brewers (25-20)
By Cam Lewis
6 years agoIt isn’t quite a four-gamer with Seattle, but the Jays have a chance to sweep a series for just the second time this season. But they’ll have to do so without Anthony Alford, who’s the most recent player to hit the 10-day disabled list.
News and Scuttlebutt
This season. What the hell. Anthony Alford, the dude who nobody figured would ever be up with the big club in this situation, is the Blue Jays’ most recent casualty. He’s got a left hamate fracture, which apparently is something that usually sidelines a player for four-to-six weeks, but it could easily go longer. For example, in June 2016, Giancarlo Stanton had this injury, and ended up missing the entire season. Hopefully that isn’t the case for Alford, who was enjoying a breakout season in Double-A. Up in his spot will be Dwight Smith Jr.

And now, the lineups…
Blue Jays
Marcus Stroman: 57 IP, 3.00 ERA, 10.1 H9, 0.6 HR9, 2.4 BB9, 7.3 SO9
Brewers
Matt Garza: 29 2/3 IP, 2.43 ERA, 8.2 H9, 0.9 HR9, 1.8 BB9, 6.7 SO9
Both Marcus Stroman and Matt Garza have been excellent so far this season, so this figures to be somewhat of a pitcher’s duel. The best part about it, though, will certainly be watching Stroman get a few opportunities to swing the bat.
