Scuttlebutt

Jose Bautista is back in right field tonight, with Ezequiel Carrera staying in the lineup and hitting lead-off.
Carrera is in tonight, of course, because Michael Saunders’ leg is hurting. But Arden Zwelling tweets that Saunders is feeling better today and expects to be good to return to the lineup tomorrow.
Arden also tweets that Troy Tulowitzki took four at-bats in an extended Spring Training game today. “If he leg responds well,” he says, Tulo could begin a rehab assignment with Dunedin as early as tomorrow.
And Arden also was the first in my timeline to tweet that John Gibbons addressed Aaron Sanchez’s innings limit today, insisting that a move to the bullpen is “gonna happen.” He apparently said it a few times — and acknowledged that the club has discussed potentially moving him into relief early, then stretching him back out again at the end of the season (though apparently that didn’t seem likely).
The whole Sanchez thing is addressed excellently by John Lott over at Vice Sports, in a piece that went up this morning but was updated after Gibbons addressed the media this afternoon.
And lastly, here’s an interesting one from Richard Griffin (via a Brendan Kennedy tweet) on how Russell Martin’s resurgence is, in part, due to a switch to a shorter, lighter bat.
