Game Threat: New York, New York! Blue Jays (8-17) @ Yankees (15-8)

The Blue Jays are riding a two-game winning streak into New York, can they build on it? The Yankees won’t make it easy.

News and Scuttlebutt

Today’s big news is that Aaron Sanchez is headed back to the 10-day disabled list thanks to that goddamn cracked nail. Danny Barnes is up to give them ‘pen some reinforcements after yesterday’s mammoth effort. The Jays won’t need another starter until May 9th, because the off day on Thursday will allow them to work twice through the rotation with just four starters. Hopefully J.A. Happ is ready by then.
That was one very expensive single!
Did you enjoy the work of Rogers’ PR outlet today? Probably not a good idea to talk about how bad Edwin has been considering how most of the Jays lineup currently looks.

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

Marco Estrada: 30 IP, 2.70 ERA, 7.5 H9, 0.9 HR9, 3.0 BB9, 9.9 SO9

Yankees

Luis Severino: 27 IP, 3.00 ERA, 5.7 H9, 1.3 HR9, 1.3 BB9, 11.0 SO9
I talked about this in the series preview earlier today, but Luis Severino has been largely excellent this season. He’s been using his slider more than usual, and it’s been dominant. The Jays aren’t the best at hitting breaking pitches, so this looks like the kind of game they’re going to have to scrape through, and one Marco Estrada is going to have to be on his game for. He has been recently, dominating Baltimore and Boston in his last two times out, but this Yankees lineup has been mashing all April.
