News and Scuttlebutt
Yikes. A loss today would also mean that the Jays went through all of April without winning a single series. The best result they’ve had so far is a draw in a four-game series with the Angels, otherwise, all of the series the Jays have played this season have been dropped.
We still don’t have a timetable for the return of Josh Donaldson or Troy Tulowitzki, and Hazel Mae reports that we shouldn’t expect Tulo back any time in the near future.
In a corresponding roster move, Matt Dermody was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo. Still no word on when J.A. Happ will be back, but having four-of-five from the ideal rotation plus Mat Latos isn’t that bad.

And now, the starting lineups…
Blue Jays
Aaron Sanchez: 12 1/3 IP, 4.38 ERA, 8.0 H9, 2.2 HR9, 2.9 BB9, 6.6 BB9
Devil Rays
Chris Archer: 32.0 IP, 3.94 ERA, 8.7 H9, 0.8 HR9, 3.7 BB9, 9.0 SO9
Chris Archer was excellent in his first couple starts of the season, but since then, he’s struggled with command. Aaron Sanchez has only made two starts this season due to that blister, but in the one that he faced Tampa Bay, he was excellent, holding them to one earned run over seven innings. This is an ace-on-ace match, one that the Jays badly need to come out of with a win.
