Which team are we going to get today? The one who took it to the Tigers on Friday with an excellent plate approach and good pitching? Or the one that got got completely roasted on Saturday? Who knows!

News and Scuttlebutt

Francisco Liriano was pulled after loading the bases in the third inning of yesterday’s loss. Liriano looked shook from the beginning of the game, struggling mightily with command. It seems that a sore neck was the issue, and he may be forced to miss his next start because of it. 2017!

And now, the lineups…

Blue Jays

Tigers

Marco Estrada: 5.17 ERA, 101 IP, 9.4 H9, 1.5 HR9, 3.5 BB9, 9.8 SO9
Anibal Sanchez: 5.89 ERA, 44 1/3 IP, 10.2 H9, 2.0 HR9, 2.6 BB9, 8.9 SO9
Marco Estrada is an interesting storyline for the Blue Jays in the second half of the season. For the first time in his career in Toronto, he’s pitched poorly for a decently long stretch of time. He’s only had one quality start since the beginning of June, and him pulling it together in the second half is key for the Jays to climb up the standings. He’ll go against Anibal Sanchez, who had been used as the Tigers long reliever up until mid-June. In four starts, Sanchez has actually been quite good, so this might not be as much of a cake walk as his numbers suggest.
