GDB 12.0: Jays look to make it three in a row

The Toronto Blue Jays are 3-0 in home openers this season.
Kind of hilarious, but it’s true. The Jays beat the St. Louis Cardinals on opening day at the start of the year, then they played spoiler in Anaheim beating the LA Angels in their second set of the season. Last night, of course, they mounted a beautiful, home-run-filled comeback to down the Detroit Tigers 9-3.
Now look — yesterday was far from ideal. Alek Manoah’s up-and-down start to his year continued with his second rough outing of the year. While he looked sharp in the top of the first, things got away from him in the second and he threw over 40 pitches in the second.
His command was off and he had no ability to find the strike zone. Far from an ideal start to the year, but there’s lots of time to work through things this year.
The Jays’ home opening series continues tonight as we get a look at Kevin Gausman’s third trip to the mound. He’s been electric to start the season and should be able to have another strong performance tonight.
