The bats came alive for the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night as the club secured their first win over the Boston Red Sox.
It came in thanks to some early solo shot home runs over the first two innings. First it was Whit Merrifield, then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Come the top of the second, rookie Davis Schneider got his first MLB at-bat blasting a shot of his own 377 feet over the Green Monster.
The impeccable vibes early on helped carry the way for the Jays, who got a rock-solid start from Alek Manoah despite it ending on a sour note as he got stretched too deep into the game.
Nonetheless, the Jays are back at it this afternoon as Jose Berrios looks to lead them to a series victory.
