The Toronto Blue Jays will seek a series sweep Sunday afternoon as they close out a three-game set against the Cleveland Guardians.
The Jays, who fell on Friday night, roared back Saturday in the series’ penultimate game with an 8-3 win. Now, on Sunday, the club sends Yusei Kikuchi to the mound with hopes the lefty can continue his excellent bounce-back season.
While Kikuchi struggled in his first season in Toronto and early into year two this year, his game has turned a significant corner and he’s become a rock-solid part of the rotation.
Jays fans got to watch Davis Schneider lead the way with his bat on Saturday afternoon going 3-for-3 with a second-inning two-run home run and a late RBI single.
Skipper John Schneider sang the praise of his namesake.
“It was a great day, it was kind of reminiscent of Fenway. He was the spark we need.”
And when asked if Davis would be in the lineup again, skipper Schneider said “yup” twice with a smile before the question was even finished.
There you have it.
