Buckle up, things are never easy at The Trop.
The Rays are chasing down the top spot in the American League East while the Blue Jays are looking to hang onto their wild-card spot. Meanwhile, the two teams behind Toronto in the standings, the Rangers and Mariners, are facing each other this weekend.
Chris Bassitt will take the mound for the Blue Jays while Tyler Glasnow will go for the Rays. Bassitt has thrown at least seven innings in three of his last four starts and passed his career-high in innings pitched during his last outing. Glasnow has had some dominant stretches this season but has a 5.48 ERA over four starts in September.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is back in the lineup for the first time since Tuesday’s series opener at Yankee Stadium. Vladdy has been dealing with a knee issue and missed the second and third games of the Yankees series but pinch-hit in the latter. He’ll be the designated hitter while Cavan Biggio plays first base.
