And the beat goes on.
The Blue Jays are looking to salvage their series against the Detroit Tigers Sunday, hoping Kevin Gausman can shake off the home woes and snag the team a win.
For one reason or another, Gausman has been nothing short of awful at the Rogers Center this season, posting a 7.19 ERA across 46.1 innings, allowing a .318 batting average and a staggering .921 OPS to opposing hitters. It’s a far cry from his numbers on the road, however, where he’s posted a 2.34 ERA, allowing a .208 batting average and .595 OPS.
Gausman has had some tough opponents at home, mind you, facing the New York Yankees twice, the Baltimore Orioles, the Boston Red Sox, the Cleveland Guardians, the Colorado Rockies, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Minnesota Twins and the Tampa Bay Rays. On the road, he’s faced the Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, the Detroit Tigers, the Kansas City Royals, the Yankees, the Oakland Athletics, the Seattle Mariners, the San Francisco Giants, the Rays and the Washington Nationals.
As trade winds continue to blow, the Jays will be without Bo Bichette, who tweaked his calf in Saturday’s game.
They’ll square up against Tigers righty Keider Montero, who has allowed a 5.47 ERA this season.
