Jaime Garcia starts the first game, Joe Biagini recalled to start the night cap

It’s going to be a long day of baseball, friends. That’s a good thing considering we haven’t watched a game since Friday.

Only once in Dome history has a game been rescheduled due to weather conditions. Incidentally, the last time this happened was a somewhat similar situation in which the Royals came to town in April and two panels crashed together in batting practice resulting in a chunk of metal falling down on the field. Anyways, this will be the first double-header at The Dome since 1989, both of which were the results of previous rain outs at Exhibition Stadium.

Jaime Garcia will start the first game. Devon Travis is in the lineup after taking a pitch in the hand all the way back on Friday night when we last got to watch a baseball game. He’s batting ninth while the also-struggling Randal Grichuk will bat eighth. Teoscar Hernandez will stick in the No. 2 hole after a very good 2018 debut in Cleveland. Steve Pearce will DH and bat leadoff because he mashes lefties, and Yangervis Solarte will fill in for Josh Donaldson at third.

In the second game, the Jays will use their extra 26th guy on Joe Biagini. This is a good decision because it’ll allow the Jays to have everybody pitch on regular rest this weekend in New York. J.A. Happ will start as scheduled on Wednesday, and then the Jays will have Aaron Sanchez, Marcus Stroman, Marco Estrada, and Garcia ready to roll for an important series with the Yankees. I’d obviously much rather the Jays use Biagini against the very bad Royals than do a bullpen game on the weekend against the not very bad Yankees.
