Jansen gets two hits, Reid-Foley grinds through debut

It was a Large Adult Son overload in Kansas City tonight as Danny Jansen and Sean Reid-Foley each made their Major League debuts. Reid-Foley struggled a little bit with command but showed nice poise to grind through five innings of work while Jansen picked up a couple hits and threw out a baserunner.

Here’s all the interesting stuff that happened. First, there was Jansen’s first big league hit and nearly his first big league RBI:

And then here’s Jansen gunning out some guy named Rosell Herrera on a delayed steal:

Reid-Foley would go five innings while allowing four earned runs on six hits and three walks. It was noticeable that Reid-Foley was amped up from the emotions of his first Major League start as his command was a little over the grid tonight. He left quite a few balls up in the zone and the Royals were able to barrel up on them.

I will say, though, if Reid-Foley leaves that many fat fastballs up in the zone against New York in his next scheduled start, he’s gonna have a much, much worse time than he did against the dog-shit Royals lineup in a pitcher friendly stadium. Still, there was quite a bit to like about Reid-Foley’s start. He had an overpowering fastball and he showed good poise, especially in the fourth inning when he managed to get a double play to limit the damage after he loaded the bases with nobody out.

Also worth mentioning since he’s a Large Adult Son was Thomas Pannone, who tossed a scoreless inning of relief in the eighth.

Let’s expand these fucking rosters already. I need more Large Adult Son content.
