The Blue Jays will add a right-handed reliever to their bullpen for their opener against the Orioles tonight, as Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports that Chris Smith has been summoned from Buffalo.
“Smith was a late-September call-up for the Blue Jays last year, after posting a 1.93 ERA with 81 strikeouts and 22 walks in the upper minors of Toronto’s system,” he writes, reminding us of something I sure as hell did not remember. “He didn’t make his MLB debut, but remained on the club’s 40-man roster.”
Which player is going the other way — or to the DL — is still up in the air, but… well… it’s gotta be Ian Parmley, right? Right???
Shut your mouth, Jonah!
I’m not even entirely sure that this “Ian Parmley” exists, so it’s gotta be him. RIGHT? (Plus, he’s due to go down once BIG ZEKE returns anyway — which, thankfully, is imminent).
As for what to expect from Smith, uh… can somebody maybe pass this Gibbers’ way:
I dunno. I guess we shall see!
(We’ll update down here once it’s clear who is going the other way — unless it’s something crazy enough to deserve a full post, which in this year sure as fuck wouldn’t surprise me.)
