Things worth mentioning…

• Joe Biagini, as the title suggests, got smacked around today. It was his fourth outing of the spring and it was by far his worst showing. The maybe-starter-maybe-reliever went one-and-two-thirds innings and allowed five runs on five hits and two walks. He surrendered two homers and collected two strikeouts. His ERA for the spring now sits at 8.10. Spring stats really don’t mean a hell of a lot, but Biagini isn’t making the best case for a role as a starter.
• After Biagini was pulled, the Jays bullpen combined to throw seven-and-one-third shutout innings. Jose Fernandez, Danny Barnes, Luis Santos, Matt Dermody, Deck McGuire, and Justin “No. 69” Shafer scattered just four hits and one walks for the remainder of the game.
• Dalton Pompey was supposed to start the game but was scratched due to wrist soreness. He’s day-to-day and it shouldn’t be a big issue.
• The Jays got virtually nothing going offensively. The Pirates shut down a pretty ugly Jays lineup for five hits, all singles, over nine innings. Yawn. Wake me up in two weeks.
