The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are the best team in the Eastern League, so it’s fitting that they had a league-high six players named to the Double-A end of season league All-Star team.

  • To the surprise of nobody, Vlad Jr’s legendary season got him a nod on the Eastern League All-Star team. Vlad unlocked a cheat code in Double-A and produced a 1.120 OPS over the span over 61 games before getting the call up to Buffalo.
  • Cavan Biggio leads the league in home runs and sits second in runs batted in. He’s a fair bet to win league MVP, so there’s no surprise he’s there either.
  • Bo Bichette might be lost somewhat in the thiccc shadow of Vlad, but he still put together a very good season at short. Bichette leads the league in doubles with 38, has a .733 OPS, and routinely makes excellent plays with the glove at a premium position.
  • Jonathan Davis and Harold Ramirez have been two breakouts in Toronto’s system this year. Ramirez looked like a non-prospect this winter but, in his third go-around at the level, he managed to produce an .814 OPS, putting him back on the radar. Davis, in his second go at the level, put up an .830 OPS before getting called up to Buffalo.
  • Finally, Canadian Jordan Romano was New Hampshire’s lone pitcher selected to the All-Star team. In 23 starts, Romano has put up a 3.57 ERA while striking out three times as many batters as he’s walked. I thought T.J. Zeuch could have also landed on the All-Star team, as he has a 3.19 ERA over 19 starts, but he didn’t get the nod.
The Appalachian League also announced its All-Star team today, with three Blue Jays getting the nod. Alejandro Kirk, an international signing from Mexico in 2016, has slashed a .355/.437/.553 line in his first full professional season. Cal Stevenson, Toronto’s 10th round pick from this summer’s draft, has slashed a .372/.502/.523 line, and undrafted free agent pitcher Sean Rackoski has a 3.42 ERA over 21 appearances. It’s a little shocking that 17-year-old Eric Pardinho, who owns a 2.93 ERA so far, didn’t get the nod.
