Marcus Stroman likely to be shut down for the rest of the season

The 2017 and 2018 Toronto Blue Jays will forever be known as the teams who were plagued by The Blister. Marcus Stroman, after being activated from the 10-day disabled list yesterday, will likely been shut down for the remainder of the season.

It was a rough season for Stroman. He rushed himself back from an injury in spring training and only made one tune-up start before the regular season. He got smacked around in his first seven starts to the tune of a 7.71 ERA before going on the disabled list in early May. Stroman would return in June and continue to pitch like a rollercoaster. He had some good starts, some bad ones, and never really managed to get a rhythm going.

In mid-August, Stroman was placed on the 10-day DL due to a blister. He came off and made one start against the Rays but got hammered for four earned runs in an inning-and-a-third of work.

Stroman is eligible for arbitration again this winter. He earned $6,500,000 in arbitration last off-season in a very public case in which he made his displeasure with the situation known. Sooooo that should be a fun process to look forward to!
