There was a whole lot of losing on Wednesday in the Blue Jays organization.
Only four affiliates were in action, as the two rookie league teams had Wednesday off. Of the four “A” affiliates in action three lost while only one won.
Let’s dig into the latest Minor League Report.

Buffalo’s bats went cold

It wasn’t a great day for the Buffalo Bisons, as they fell 3-1 to the Rochester Red Wings to go to 3-6 in the second-half, the worst in the International League.
The Bisons’ batters had just six hits, all of which were singles. Phil Clarke, Gabriel Cancel, Riley Tirotta, Will Robertson, Damiano Palmegiani, and Miguel Hiraldo each had a single, while Cam Eden and Rafael Lantigua both walked twice.
Beau Sulser had the start for the Canadians, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER (2 R), 1 BB, 3 K to bring his season ERA to 6.87. Mike Mayers was the first out of the bullpen, giving up an earned run and striking out three in 2.2 innings pitched. Mason Fluharty had a solid day, walking a batter and striking out two in an inning and two thirds. Troy Watson pitched a clean two thirds innings.

New Hampshire blew late lead

Heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Fisher Cats had a 5-3 lead, but thanks to a four-run inning, they fell 8-5 to the Portland Sea Dogs. Their second-half record now sits at 2-6, tied for the worst in the Eastern League Northeast Division.
The bats were cold in this game as well, but the Fisher Cats managed to hit an extra-base hit, two in fact! Garrett Spain hit his sixth double of the season, while Alex De Jesus hit his first triple of the year. Gabriel Martinez had two singles, while Kekai Rios and Devonte Brown each had a single.
CJ Van Eyk made the start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER (3 R), 2 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 7.14. Hunter Gregory had a rough outing, giving up three runs in an inning and two thirds.
Ryan Boyer gave up three of those runs tagged to Gregory, as the first batter he faced hit a grand slam. He hit the next batter and was ejected from the game and is serving a suspension. Justin Kelly finished the game, giving up an earned run and a walk in an inning and a third.

Vancouver lost their second game of the second-half

The Vancouver Canadians are steamrolling the second-half. However, they fell 6-2 to the Everett AquaSox to move their record to 10-2, only a game ahead of Spokane.
Canadian Connor O’Halloran had the start for the Canadians, finishing with a line of 7 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K with two home runs given up to bring his High-A ERA to 4.99. Alex Amalfi pitched a clean inning with a strikeout, while Kai Peterson allowed two unearned runs with two strikeouts in two thirds of an inning pitched. Naswell Paulino struck out a batter in a third of an inning.
Jace Bohrofen provided pretty much all of the offence, hitting his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh. He also hit his 18th double of the year. Peyton Williams also had a two-hit performance, but walked once as well. Nick Goodwin and Estiven Machado each had a single.

Dunedin has won four straight games

The Dunedin Blue Jays have been on a roll in recent times, defeating the Clearwater Threshers 6-3 to move their second-half record to 6-5. They have won four consecutive games, and are two games back of the division lead.
Cristian Feliz’s hit tool may never be good, but does he ever supply power. For the second straight game, he hit a home run, this one being his 12th of the season.
Moreover, Victor Arias hit his sixth home run of the season, setting a new career-high. Jean Joseph hit his first triple of the season and had a two-hit performance, while Tucker Toman hit his second triple of the season for a three-hit performance. Manuel Beltre also hit a double for a two-hit night. Robert Robertis had the other hit for the D-Jays.
Ricky Tiedemann started a rehab outing, finishing with a line of 3.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K with only his eighth home run given up in his career. Irv Carter was the first out of the bullpen, giving up a home run but striking out three in two innings and a third.
Bo Bonds struck out four and walked two while giving up an earned run in an inning and two thirds, while Yondrei Rojas picked up the save with a strikeout in an inning and a third pitched.
