Nate Pearson not expecting September call-up

Just a few days away until September, there are some fairly solid guesses for who the Blue Jays will be calling-up as soon as the roster expansion happens, but according to the pitcher himself, Nate Pearson will not be one of them.

This year was his first year where he was able to pitch more than 19 professional innings, so it’s safe to say that this was assumed throughout the league. He will be getting the much-deserved rest this fall, as management and fans alike hope to see him in a Blue Jays uniform by this time next year.

He started his year in High-A Dunedin, where he dominated batters, amassing 35 strikeouts in just 21 innings and holding a 0.86 ERA. The majority of his season was spent at Double-A New Hampshire, where he was able to keep a 2.59 ERA and a 9.91 K/9 — showing that he was ready for the next challenge before a late-season promotion to Triple-A Buffalo.

In his two starts for the Bisons so far, the Blue Jays’ top prospect now that Bo Bichette has pretty much graduated, has been able to pitch 13 innings and earn only two runs, while also striking-out 10 batters and walking none. Safe to say that he belongs at the top level and could possibly get major-league outs right now for the club.

But as he recovers from his previous injury after his already successful season, Jays fans will have to wait for his eventual arrival. The 23-year-old will be in Toronto soon enough and will throw into triple digit, making opposing batters look silly all the same.

The wave of young high-potential pitchers will arrive, but patience is needed right now.
